WAGENFELD

Consistently functional

Wilhelm Wagenfeld created the “Service 639” in 1934 in the spirit of Bauhaus. In 1937, the form WAGENFELD was awarded the Gold Medal for design at the World Exhibition in Paris. Today, the timeless modern form captivates by continuing to be up-to-date. Material, functionality and design together form a single entity with every object.

The designer of the form:Wilhelm Wagenfeld

"Useful things must be attractive, otherwise they don't fulfil their purpose." This was the maxim of Wilhelm Wagenfeld, born in 1900 in Bremen, who created porcelain items and a service with and for FÜRSTENBERG in 1934. Wagenfeld always followed the central idea of the Bauhaus movement: “Form follows function” – his works have a classic beauty.

Form WANGENFELD: Consistently functional design and eternal elegance. The design classic WAGENFELD is a milestone of the porcelain and tableware design. Wilhelm Wagenfeld created this tableware collection by the name “Service 639” in 1934, true to the spirit of Bauhaus. Even today, this ageless modern tableware service WAGENFELD with its persistent topicality continues being an eye-catcher. The diversity of cups, plates or other tableware objects of WAGENFELD such as the jug – aesthetically blend in perfectly with any well-laid table. With every WAGENFELD piece, the material, functionality and design in combination form a truly unique entity. This allows vases, bowls and other WAGENFELD Edition giftware to create that desired stylish effect, whether used as a single piece or displayed in combination.

The original and entirely white design is at the heart of the design classic WAGENFELD series. Here, you can feel the concentrated passion that the Bauhaus design artist Wagenfeld put into the porcelain’s design. Every single piece of WAGENFELD emanates a discrete design idea leading to a product consistent with the proportions and concepts of the Bauhaus movement. Well-balanced proportions, simple beauty, finest quality and supreme manufacture are the prevailing features of these meticulously and precisely hand-crafted creamers, teacups and sugar boxes of WAGENFELD. Every single piece of the form WAGENFELD flawlessly lives up to Wagenfeld’s maxim that: “useful things must be attractive, otherwise they don’t fulfil their purpose”.
