Are you “Team Coffee Machine” or “Team French Press”? The stamp pot has several advantages: it is easy to use, space-saving, does not require electricity or a filter and lets you make several cups of coffee at the same time. The longer contact of the hot water with the ground coffee allows a special coffee aroma to develop. When the French press coffee pot is as elegant and attractive as the DATUM porcelain stamp pot, you can prepare the fragrant coffee directly at the table in front of your guests. It couldn’t be any fresher.
Brewing coffee in a French press using the so-called immersion method is quick and easy: pour ground coffee directly into the pot (the sieve is at the top), pour on hot water and, at the end of the brewing time, press down the sieve plunger to separate the freshly brewed coffee from the grounds. Our tip: buy high-quality coffee beans and grind them to a medium to coarse degree just before infusing. The ideal water temperature is 95°C. Simply boil the water, then let it cool for 60 to 90 seconds before pouring over the coffee. The important thing is to pour the coffee into cups quickly so that it does not become bitter. The special thing about a French press coffee pot is that it must have completely straight inner walls so that the strainer is an exact fit when it is pressed down. It is particularly difficult to make such a form from porcelain, which is a challenging material that becomes very soft during firing and has a tendency to go out of shape. For the tall and cylindrical shape of the DATUM French press, the body must be completely accurate. If the porcelain is only slightly too thick, the insert will not fit into it later. The pot and lid also need to be matched to each other with millimetre precision. The production of porcelain French press coffee pots at our manufactory represents craftsmanship at the highest level.
