BESPOKE CRYSTAL GLAZE
Initiated by the international design magazine Wallpaper*, the magazine presented at Salone del Mobile 2015 ‘Dram and Mór’ as part of the handmade project. The British designer Afroditi Krassa designed in collaboration with the Scottish whiskey brand Royal Salute and FÜRSTENBERG two exceptional bottles. ‘Dram’ is a 200 milliliter flask, ‘Mór’ a one-liter bottle.
As a special feature, the bottles show a crystal glazes in iridescent gold and green tones, which FÜRSTENBERG already uses in the collection SOLITAIRE.
EXTRAORDINARY UNIQUENESS
A mysterious recipe and masterly quality make SOLITAIRE crystal glazes fascinatingly unique. The glaze technique is more than 1,000 years old. Under certain temperatures and with the help of added rock flour, crystals form on the porcelain shards during the firing process, depending on the size of the objects.
The tension-laden structures and new ornaments created by the course of the firing temperature cannot be predicted. Thus vases, bowls and plates become personal unique pieces in perfection.
