For many people, blue is their all-time favourite colour. After all, it calls to mind clear skies and the vastness of the sea. read more
The Wunderkammer décor tells the story of a journey around the world. In rich metaphors, the cobalt-blue designs reflect impressions of different continents and eras. Various graphic structures meet floral patterns and pictures of fish and butterflies. Delicate, barely sketched blooms encounter clear blossom silhouettes. Individual blue décor elements on white porcelain stand out in contrast with parts coloured entirely in blue. Blue on white or white on blue – some objects play with inverse representations. With its individually designed parts, blue porcelain works like a collection that has grown over years – and therefore can also be added to at any time. Travel around the world in the FÜRSTENBERG online shop and let yourself be inspired.
Porcelain production in a manufactory such as FÜRSTENBERG is true craftsmanship. Every shape and every pattern presents special challenges. Which means that the production of blue decorated porcelain is also something quite special. The cobalt blue sharp fire pattern – also known as blue underglazed – is fired at up to 1,400°C. At these extremely high temperatures, the glaze softens and the blue pattern sinks deep into the glaze, thereby taking on its radiant intensity. The advantage is that the finished porcelain is perfectly protected against mechanical or chemical influences, for example when it is washed in a dishwasher. The decorated porcelain remains blue and shiny for a particularly long time.
