Conical vases with adjustable flower insert
Tenderly entangled blossoms that bring to mind the circles made by a stone thrown into a calm pond – this is decor LES FLEURS. The central motif of the pattern are flowers, depicted in the finest of manners, allowing an entirely new interpretation of the classical floral subject. The playful-organic approach of designer Sebastian Menschenhorn lends to the real flowers a fanciful stage.
FÜRSTENBERG, together with star florist Björn Kroner, has developed a vase form suited for a multitude of flower arrangements. The decorative flower inserts are new, and can be used for bothsizes of the vase.
With extensive knowledge of the history of art and culture, Viennese interior designer Sebastian Menschhorn translates style, form and function into product and graphic design. The results of his work are modern, yet timeless designs. In 2012, he created the LES FLEURS décor for FÜRSTENBERG.
Vases combining well thought-out functionality and effective decorative accents are in general hard to find. Together with star florist Björn Kroner-Salié, porcelain manufacturer FÜRSTENBERG therefore looked into the matter and developed a conical vase made from sophisticated porcelain which perfectly enhances modern floral arrangements. It can be combined with a decorative flower insert if desired – with a choice of single or multiple openings – to allow for creative flower arrangements. The vases can be found in a height of 20 or 28 centimetres. They are available in a series of three flower decors LES FLEURS from the hand of Vienna-based designer Sebastian Menschhorn. The series LES FLEURS, created by Vienna-based designer Sebastian Menschhorn, also takes a stylistic stance, while still suiting the most diverse living environment. The centrepiece of LES FLEURS is flowers as the archetype of beauty – modified in the finest manner here. According to the designer, the decor flowers' abstraction of the LES FLEURS motifs gives real flowers a platform, heralds them, gives the vessel its meaning - and all without competing with their natural beauty. The implementation conveys the idea: Kept to either rainbow colours or in red on gold or red on white or green on white of LES FLEURS, two-dimensional flowery meadows flow delicately together, forming an organic unit comparable in effect with lichens on a tree trunk. The open-worked surface is reminiscent of lace and gives the LES FLEURS vase its lightness. But how does one come up with such a pattern? “My inspiration for the FÜRSTENBERG decor came from the concentric rings that are created when a rock is thrown into a pool of water,” reveals Sebastian Menschhorn. This organic approach is also reflected in the colours of LES FLEURS: The entirety of the hand-painted LES FLEURS flowers is handled as one entity, as a surface, giving it a quiet and discreet yet lively effect.
